My 14 year old son came home from school on Friday with a new temporary addition to the family; a plastic baby from health class. Yes folks, my son was a dad for the weekend. Meet “Summer” (and please pardon my son’s super messy room…why are boys so gross??).
He had to feed it, change it, burp it, and rock it whenever it would cry. And let me tell you, that thing…er…baby cried ALOT. My step-daughter gave it the lovely nickname of “demon”. Within the first hour of coming home with the baby, Christian was already getting frustrated. The following is just a small dialog of what was said:
Summer: “WAAAAAAAWAAAAAA WAAAAA
Christian: “Oh my gosh, KILL ME NOW!!”
Me: “HAHAHAHAHAHA! Better make sure you don’t have sex so you don’t have a REAL one!”
Christian: “It’s hungry again and I just fed it!!!”
Me: “I recall saying the same thing about YOU when you were a baby”
It was so funny watching him take care of this baby. And over the course of the weekend, I noticed little things, like when he was telling people how to hold it and “Don’t shake it, you’ll give it shaken baby syndrome!!!!” (that was my favorite). I took a little video this weekend too, which I will have to post later. For some reason it’s not wanting to upload from my phone. Be sure to check back tomorrow for the final “Daddy for the weekend” post!
Has your son or daughter brought home a health baby to take care of? What did you think of the experience? What did THEY think of it?
