I’ve uploaded several pictures I took on Saturday. We had most of the day free and we took that opportunity to do some sight-seeing. We started out at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and ended up at the Cosmopolitan Hotel, then grabbed a quick bite to eat before heading back to the hotel to get ready for our evening event (more about that another day). Here are some of the pictures I took on Saturday (the night pictures were from AFTER our event…when we continued our tour of the strip that ended at Caesars Palace). And I was very successful at finding a really BAD Elvis impersonator to pose with. I told my husband before we left, that it is a goal I have for this trip…finding a bad Elvis impersonator. And look! I saw Michael Jackson too…
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend! This week, I will be only posting about my big sweepstakes win. My husband and I got back late last night from our trip to Las Vegas, and we have a great time! Yes, I actually won this trip to Vegas to meet the UFC fighters and see the UFC fight 146. It was an experience that my husband and I will never forget. We received total VIP treatment all the way! And we even got some “free time” to sight-see for most of the day on Saturday (which we spent on the strip, of course)!
Friday started out with us getting up at 5am and heading to the airport for a 9:14am flight to Charlotte, NC (and this was my first flight ever….totally thought the plane would be bigger than what it was and very thankful I got to sit next to my husband on all flights). We had a 45 minute layover, then caught the next flight to Las Vegas which had us landing around 12:30 (ish), Pacific time. Yes, that is a 3 hour time change….we were exhausted by the time we went to bed Friday night. We spent most of that first day at our hotel (lots to see there anyway as we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino). Friday night, we were transported to Mandalay Bay and taken straight to the top floor for a private party for some of the fighters. My husband is a big fan of the UFC, so he was really excited about meeting some of these guys. I’ve not uploaded all of my pictures yet, but here are a couple taken on my cell:
How did I win this trip? And what, exactly, did it include? Check out this post. Come back on Wednesday for a look at what we did on Saturday!
I know Mother’s Day was last Sunday, and I really did mean to schedule this post to go out on Monday but…life got in the way. I hope all of you mothers had a very Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday! Mine was pretty great, even though we had to celebrate on Saturday rather than Sunday because of my husband’s work schedule. We all spent the day shopping (have to get ready for our trip to Vegas next week!), and for the most part? My husband, son and daughter behaved. That is…until we went out for dinner later that night. I know Rick and Faith held it in as long as they could. They didn’t want to embarrass me on my special day…not too much anyway. Bless them, they really tried.
We chose to go to the Outback restaurant for dinner since I won (yes, I won another prize!) a free steak meal from there. The meal was pretty yummy, but boy was it packed. Parts of our dinner order got messed up, but not only did they fix it…they also “made it right” on the bill. Hello free Bloomin’ Onion and drinks! Everything was going OK…until they finished eating and had to sit there waiting on our ticket. I didn’t get everything on video, because I was too busy hiding under the table, but you can hear Faith saying she was bored on the short clip I did manage to take before it got too bad..right after she ate a handful of pepper.
By the time my husband was putting shrimp tails in his mouth to make tusks, I was ready to sink through the floor. They are such weirdos. But they are my weirdos and I love them dearly! I had a great Mother’s Day!
