My husband has many different personalities…er…I mean, many different voices/impersonations he can do. One of them is an old man. I was going through the videos on my phone when I came across one made last summer where he was doing his old man impersonation and talking about what’s going to happen when he gets really old and his youngest old daughter is taking care of him. I had totally forgotten about this video, but it cracked me up…so I thought I would share it with all of you fine folks:
Last week, when we had all the kids at home for several days, I came upon my step-son, Evan, dancing to If I Were a Boy by Beyonce. I was able to grab the camera in time to catch some of it…and this time found that his little sister had joined him. Check it out, and please pardon the messy background.
I haven’t posted for the past several days because….well I was just too busy! I am one of those last minute shoppers, which means I’m also a last minute wrapper. I didn’t start my shopping until Black Friday. I finished the day before Christmas Eve.
Christmas Eve found me rushing around like a chicken with it’s head cut off; trying to get everything done before the next day. It started off with getting up early to get ready for our best friends, the Jones family, to visit. We spent a couple hours hanging out chatting, then after they left, I had to clean the kitchen….to prepare to bake and mess it up again. And keep in mind, I still had a crap ton of presents to wrap. I spent a couple hours baking and dealing with some family drama…actually the family drama lasted for a couple days and is still ongoing evidently. Merry Christmas!!
So anyway…I didn’t start wrapping the presents until about midnight on Christmas Eve. I finished at 5am, went to bed and was up again at 8am to the sounds of Allie and Faith banging on our bedroom door. *sigh*. It wouldn’t have been Christmas if I got more than 3 hours of sleep. After all the presents were unwrapped, and I got a nap in…I did another round of cooking for our family dinner at my mom’s. All in all, it was a pretty good weekend (not counting the needless family drama). I’m so thankful that we had all of our children at home for the holidays. As some of you may remember, the oldest two boys are away at college the majority of the year….so it has been great spending time with them.
I’ve included a few pictures from this weekend. I would have had more, but my camera decided to die right in the middle of opening presents….and silly me bought the wrong kind of batteries…and nothing was open….so…yeah. Most of these were taken with my cellphone, so they are not the best quality.

And it just wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t have at least one silly picture to show
My 14 year old son, Christian, had to go to the doctor the other day for some testing, and it was somewhat of an ordeal…a funny one! Let me start out by saying, when he was a small child and had to have a shot or get blood taken, he would pitch the BIGGEST fit you can imagine. It was so bad, that I always had to take my husband or my mother with me…to help me hold him down. It would take 3 of us, literally, to hold him down (with him hitting, kicking and screaming bloody murder) plus two nurses. I’ve never seen a child act like that before in my life and I had no idea why he would act like that or what I could do to make him stop, short of knocking him out.
Fast forward several years. I figured he had grown out of it. And really…he almost did. He didn’t pitch a fit, crying and screaming at the top of his lungs….he didn’t have to be held down this time. But the way he acted? Was soooooo funny. I was able to catch some of it with my cell phone video recorder (you may need to turn your volume way up to hear). He still gets nervous…I mean just him thinking that he may get a shot or blood taken, had him stressing for hours…but no fits (thank GOD!!). He’s becoming quite the comedian.
And hopefully he took what the nurse said to heart…not that I would EVER allow him to get his lip pierced!
