My husband didn’t have a great day at work today. His day was so bad, that he called me up on his lunch break just to tell me that he loves me more than anything and would do anything for me and that he misses me so much. He needed to hear a friendly voice, his best friends’ voice, and to hear his best friend, his wife, tell him that she loves him no matter what and that everything would be ok. Those were his words, not mine. I was happy to oblige.
I must stop right here and say that my husband busts his butt every day and goes above and beyond at work. He always over exceeds in expectations, so I get pretty sick and tired of the lack of appreciation shown to him at work by the powers that be. Strange that when he goes to other store locations to do the same job, he receives acolades and praise for a job well done, but when he goes back to his home store, he gets admonished and degraded for things that are not even his fault.
When he got home today, he told me that just seeing me and the kids lifted his spirits. I was hoping to go out shopping this evening, but after balancing the check book, I could see that the shopping trip would have to be postponed. And this is payday. It sucks seeing the paycheck go right into our account and go immediately towards bills. Meaning, we didn’t get to see a penny of the money this week. So, that also has my hubby down in the dumps. Things are going to be tight for the next few weeks.
Even still, after dinner, he grabbed me up, danced with me across the kitchen, hugged me tight and said, “April, I wanna do something to you, but it involves peanut butter and M&Ms”, and gave me a shifty look. Seriously? This is why I hide the peanut butter at night and wait until he falls asleep before going to bed myself! That man is crazy!
During our hugging session in the kitchen, we reassured each other that it would be OK, and that the hard times will pass as they always do. Things will get better, I have no doubt. I also have no doubt that my husband will continue to work his way up in the company. We just thank God for what we have now. Even during hard times, we are still able to see the silver lining, count our blessings and laugh….and laugh…and laugh some more.
My husband and I have been watching Dancing with the Stars since the second season of the show. Rick was very reluctant to watch it at first, but he quickly learned to like it (he even tells me he has friends at work that watch it also…they claim their wives make them). We can actually have a pretty intelligent conversation when it comes to the dancing and the show. He is also willing to go with me to take Ballroom Dancing lessons one day!
So our conversation tonight went something like this:
Rick: Hope did really well tonight.
Me: I agree and Maks was just sexy
Rick: I think the best dancer is that Derek Hough
Me: Yes, he is great….he’s sexy too. But Mark Ballas is right up there with him too. And Maks.
Rick: I knew you would say that. We’ve already had this conversation.
Me: Maks is the kind of person you want to meet on a dark deserted street…the tall, dark and handsome man that you want to say “Take me now!” to.
Rick laughing: Check you now for what? Fleas? Ticks? hahaha!
Me: I said TAKE ME NOW, not CHECK ME NOW!!!
Rick tells me his favorite part of the entire show is the Dance Center, and he really misses the days when Jimmy Kimmel was on the show. Coming from my comedic honey-bunny? I’m not surprised. I can’t wait until I can get my husband onto a dance floor! I really hope someone can teach him to dance, because I think we would have a blast!
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, I have no idea who I am rooting for now that David Arquette is gone. I think for once, Rick and I are in agreement, and may be casting our vote for J.R. Martinez.
I guess I forgot to mention that I have some pretty nutty brothers too. My baby brother, Alex, is the biggest nut of them all. Check out the video below of this Marine dancing to Katy Perry while shaving:

I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by and that the Holiday seasons are now upon us! I’m so beyond unprepared, it’s not even funny. I always say that I’m going to start my Christmas shopping early…like the summer, or do it throughout the year, but it never seems to work out that way for me. I guess I really am my mother’s daughter! I’ll be shopping on Christmas Eve.
I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween! I know my family did, even though my hubby had to work late. We went to our church’s Hallelujah Hoedown for some good food, attractions and of course…CANDY! After that, we took the kiddos trick or treating at a nearby neighborhood. It was CROWDED…I guess that’s what we get for going to a wealthier area. I’m also glad my brother was home on leave to join us with his kids, but very sad that my 10 yr old is the only one dressing up and really participated in Halloween this year. Here are few pictures I managed to snap:

Now we have Thanksgiving to look forward to and Christmas right around the corner! I’m feeling kind of frazzled already…
